Description: Brittany by Jean-Claude Mayodon is an exuberant neo-impressionist painting. It depicts a view of a French country village with its orange roof houses and old church. The paths, in the bottom of the composition, lead the viewer into the entrance of the village. The crop fields surrounding the village geometrically construct the different levels of the composition and lead the eye to the point of horizon placed at the top of the work. This painting is remarkable for its composition and the use of its intense contrast in the light and shadow effects. This piece is executed in a palette of ochre, orange, yellow and green with heavy impasto typical of the artist's works.
