Born in Tervant Paal in 1942, Albric Soly is of Flemish ancestry. The artist was associated with the famous Beringen Group in Belgium. In 1964, he won the First Prize at the XIII Fine Arts Salon in Pont-à-Mousson, France. The same year, Soly immigrated to Canada. He dedicates his life to painting a harmonious universe combining all artistic and symbolic references. The originality in his approach comes from lengthy research. His process involves nine stages before he applies a final glazing coat to his works. He uses different materials such as oil, acrylic, glue and fabric, and forges and chisels the panel with tools such as the hammer, screwdriver, and drill. Albric Soly paints his chagallesque figures, dancing objects, musical instruments and trees which reflect interior and/or exterior landscapes. The work is thus born in a whirlwind of movement typical of Soly.
