[Louis Hughes]

Click here for works by Louis Hughes.

Louis Hughes, the poet, graduated in French Literature at Concordia University in Montreal where he also studied Political Sciences. His style of painting changed radically after a long stay in Povungnituck, a city in Québec's Great North, where he was introduced to Inuit art. Louis Hughes paints traces of the wind, the cold, Canadian moose, the geese and thin Northern trees. He has been exhibiting since 1988 and received a Mention of Honour and the Grand Public Prize at the Teilhard de Chardin's Centre in Montréal in 1998. In 2002, he was selected to represent Canadian art in a special exhibition in Boston, USA. We find Louis Hughes' paintings in many corporate and important private collections in the US, Europe, the Middle East, Africa and in Canada.
